3 STAGE THIN FILM DISTILLATION SYSTEM - NSP 1545

  • Fully adjustable systems with throughput from  15 - 45 KG/HR.

  • First stage WFE, second and third stage SPD

  • Continuous distillation for heat sensitive or high boiling molecules.

  • Deep vacuum for gentle separation.

  • Short exposure time to distillation parameters resulting in no burning or fouling of feed.

  • Non-stop distillation of homogenized feed.

BASIS OF DESIGN AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION

1.0    General Overview

The frame of the NSP-1545 is designed by North Scientific Products and fabricated from 304 SS.  All vertical and horizontal structural members are 2 x 2 welded tubing with a ¼” SS plate floor. The perimeter sub frame is mounted on lockable casters for easy of mobility. Within the perimeter frame are integral support members for mechanical, electrical and instrumentation mounting and to facilitate process piping and the distribution of power and instrumentation wiring.

All necessary process devices are mounted within the frame, with the exception of the feed tank.

Control and operator interface to the distillation unit is accomplished via a touchscreen computer mounted in the face of the control enclosure.

Electrical supply to the unit is a single point connection with a disconnect switch and emergency stop palm button mounted on the control enclosure.

Control and electrical instrumentation supplied by North Scientific Products will be automatic and controlled via the touchscreen. Writeable control points include jacket oil bath temperature, residue and distillate pump speed, feed pump speed, vacuum and backing pump start/stop, evaporator chilled circulator temperature, crude material feed rate, and wiper basket start/stop. Vacuum in each stage is displayed on the front of the control enclosure via three-line display and can be represented in Mbar, Torr, Pascal or Micron. Language can be displayed in English, German, Japanese, Chinese, French, Italian and Korean.

The feed tank, pump, oil bath and mixer are mounted on lockable caster frame and connected to the distillation unit with latch style toggle clamps. An electrical umbilical is provided for a single point connection via Twist-Lok style receptacle and plug. Molex style electrical connections provided on the main unit electrical panel are used for feed pump start/stop and feed pump speed signal.

Wiper basket rotation is constant speed and accomplished via a ½ HP, 1800 RPM, TEFC motor and a 10.16 ratio gear motor.

Feed supply rate is User adjustable via touchscreen HMI from 15-45 KG/HR and is monitored and controlled via Coriolis mass flow meter and a modulating precision flow needle valve.
